The Plebs get the better of Hammarby

With some key players missing and coming off last week’s away game, Uppsala knew this clash would be tougher than the last time the two sides met.

But the Plebs were fired up and excited.

Hammarby kicked off and immediately stole the ball, but couldn’t hold on for long before Uppsala turned it over. A few phases later, Uppsala won a penalty, and Soral kicked for the lineout. From a successful throw, the ball went wide to Joss, who popped it to King for a few strong meters, before he offloaded to Stew, who drove forward again before going to ground. After three hard carries, Soral spotted space and kicked into the try area. With Anes’ blistering pace, he chased it down and scored close to the posts.

The match was physical, with the scoreline swinging back and forth. There were plenty of tough tackles – and a few high ones – which saw both teams reduced to 14 men at different times with yellow cards.

Soral had an excellent day with the boot, constantly pinning Hammarby back and adding valuable points. But Man of the Match went to Anes, who was outstanding throughout and finished with two tries to his name.

This victory was extra sweet as it marked Uppsala’s first win at Gubbängen against Hammarby in several years.
