Uppsala Nomads Take to the Field Again!

Last weekend, as Uppsala Rugby Football Club celebrated its milestone 60th anniversary, the men's B team—the Nomads—took to the field for the second time in as many weeks. This marked a significant moment for the club's steadily growing player base, now able to consistently field two full 23-man squads over the same weekend.
Following an encouraging performance in their previous match against Stockholm Exiles C at Gubbängen, a lively mix of seasoned, young, and slightly rusty players came together for a friendly match against a Stockholm's U20 select side. The teams played four 20-minute quarters, and although the visitors ultimately controlled the scoreboard, Uppsala delivered a strong performance and kept spirits high until the final whistle.
With a more relaxed format and no league rankings at stake, many players had the chance to simply enjoy the game they love. Several players from the U18 squad seized the opportunity to experience senior rugby for the first time. Others—some of whom had subbed for the A-team just the day before—gained valuable game time to showcase their skills and maybe even earn more playtime with the A-team.
Being able to field a full B-squad and organize friendlies like this speaks volumes about the health and depth of the men senior's section of the club. The sidelines were equally vibrant, with strong support from the women's team—who had played a 10s tournament earlier in the day—and members of the A men's squad, all cheering on the Nomads.
All in all, it was another fantastic day of rugby in Uppsala, reflecting both the club's proud history and its promising future.
