Pleb's Umeå adventure began on Friday 9th of August in the afternoon as the squad gathered at 15:00, loaded into minibuses, and set off on the long journey north to Umeå. After a few stops along the way and seven hours on the road, the team finally arrived at the hotel. Once settled in, a walk through the town helped loosen up the legs before an early night of rest ahead of game day.
Saturday morning started with a team breakfast before the players headed out to a nearby swimming area. There, spirits were high as the squad enjoyed some light recovery work, including touch rugby in the water and even a round of water-gymnastics. After returning to town for food and relaxation, attention shifted to the main event: kick-off at 16:00.
The match itself was a thrilling contest, played at a high tempo from the opening whistle. Both sides fought hard, but after 80 minutes of intense rugby, it was PLEBS who emerged victorious, edging out their opponents with a 40–34 win. Two of the try-scorers included Grillan, who was in sensational form with a hat-trick, and Anes, marking his entry to senior rugby in style with a try of his own.
After the game, the squad split ways: two minibuses headed back to Uppsala, arriving around 01:30, while the final bus stayed behind to celebrate the win and experience the nightlife of Umeå.
A memorable weekend for PLEBS both on and off the pitch – capped by a hard-fought victory, strong team spirit, and a glimpse of the future with young players making their mark!
