Resilient performance against Exiles

The ladies’ team traveled to Stockholm last Saturday for the final pool-stage match against the experienced Exiles side. We knew it would be a tough challenge, but we came ready to show how much we’ve grown this season and determined to play our rugby.
From the opening whistle, our defense was outstanding — easily the strongest performance we’ve put in all year. Dani Sakai’s excellent communication kept our defensive line organized, while the forwards put in massive hits to shut down Exiles’ powerful runners. A standout
moment came from Fanny Boberg, whose incredible try-saving tackle held up the ball after a dangerous Exiles breakaway. Despite our effort, Exiles managed to break through and went into halftime leading 22–0.
After an energizing team talk from our coaches, we came back onto the field with fire in our bellies. Early in the second half, Boberg powered over the line to score, with Steph Morgan calmly kicking the conversion. Spirits were high, and we piled pressure on Exiles, forcing them to work hard for every phase. At times, we even had them sweating — if we do say so ourselves. Don't worry, we are still smiling about Ana Grzeszczak's interception (see photo for evidence). Still, Exiles’ quick offloads and well-drilled backline produced more tries.
Right at the end, however, we showed our resilience once again. After stripping the ball from an Exiles player, Boberg sprinted downfield to secure her second try of the match. The game finished 12–44 to Exiles, but the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story — we fought hard, stood
our ground, and refused to let them run over us. Special congratulations to our Players of the Match, Lauren Davies and Iona McLachlan, whose
strong communication and fearless tackling kept us in the contest throughout. A huge thank you to our coaches, water runners, and the supporters on the sidelines who lifted us every step of the way.
